Visitors enjoyed a taste of life from yesteryear as Heage Windmill held its first open event of the season.
More than a hundred folk turned out over the damp weekend to see displays of sheep shearing and traditional wool spinning at the Chesterfield Road tourist spot, which coincided with National Mills Weekend.
Events organiser Lynn Allen said attendance was good despite the dreary weather. She said: “We had quite a few come down on Saturday, and it was fully enjoyed by both the volunteers and the visitors.”
Heage Windmill is now open throughout summer and staff there are on the lookout for volunteers. If you are interested, call Lynn on 07973548551, the next event will be a two-day flower festival starting on Saturday, June 22.
