Villagers poised for yearly wassailing festival

Waingroves Community Woodland Trust is due to hold its annual wassailing festival on Saturday.

The traditional event, which sees villagers ‘wake up’ the Strelley woods in the village with noises and story telling, will start at 1.30pm in Waingroves Community Centre. Children and adults are invited to go along to make lanterns and simple musical instruments for the evening procession through the woods. Anyone wishing to join the procession itself should meet at the community centre at 6pm.

Following the wassailing refreshments will be available at the community centre for a small charge. All are welcome.
