The red carpet was yesterday (Wednesday) rolled out for the Earl of Wessex who visited Trent College to help launch its 150th anniversary celebrations.
He unveiled a commemorative plaque and met with students and staff, past and present, during his visit to the Long Eaton college.
The college, which opened in April 1868, is now one of the leading co-educational independent schools in the region and home to more than 1,300 students.
Added Mr Penty: “Over the years, so many people have helped shape the school to become what it is today; an inspiring learning environment where academic, physical and creative achievements are made possible and celebrated.”
The prince’s visit was the first of a number of celebration events planned for the next 12 months.
