Two boys threatened by masked park raider

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched into an attempted robbery that took place in Shipley Park on Thursday.

Police are trying to trace witnesses to the incident which took place just after 7pm, having already made an arrest.

Two boys, aged ten and 11, were walking through the park near to Osbourne’s Pond, when a youth jumped out of shrubbery and demanded the youngest boy hand over his bike and threatened them.

The raider then pushed the older boy to the ground before fleeing empty-handed through the park towards the visitors centre.

He was described as 13 years old, 5ft 8ins tall and of medium build. He was wearing a black ski type mask, black tracksuit bottoms, black t-shirt, black Nike trainers and black fingerless gloves. A youth was later arrested in Aspley, Nottingham and was being questioned by police.
