Townsfolk are challenged to get on their bikes

People from Ripley and Heanor are being encouraged to take part in a four week eco-friendly active challenge.

The lottery funded Derbyshire Active Travel Challenge is asking local people to form teams, register on its website, and log any ‘active travel’ journeys, such as walking, running or cycling, during a four-week period, starting September 5.

The aim of the scheme is to get people travelling to work or school, without using a car. The website will calculate the amount of Co2 saved by your team. There will also be prizes on offer for participants. For more information on taking part, visit:
