Townfolk celebrate the Queen’s Silver Jubilee

IN this week’s memory lane we feature the final five pictures of residents celebrating the Queen’s Silver Jubilee back in 1977.

Although it is unknown whereabouts in the Eastwood area the first three photos were taken, we do know that the two at the bottom of the page were taken at Greasley Parish Hall.

Townfolk can be seen enjoying street parties, similar to the way people will mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee later this year, 35 years on.

The pictures, along with the four printed in last week’s Advertiser, were submitted by David Instone who lives in Chewton Avenue, Eastwood.

Last week, we featured residents celebrating the jubilee in Percy Street, Walker Street and Lynncroft.

Do you know the location of the parties in these first three pictures? Or do you recognise any of the faces from back in the day?

If you do, contact the Advertiser on 0115 944 6160.
