Opticians in Ripley and Heanor are extending their services to provide NHS hearing tests in a bid to make them more
accessible to the community.

The Lancaster & Thorpe Opticians branches in Oxford Street, Ripley, and Market Street, Heanor, are now offering free hearing checks and NHS hearing aids to the over 55s after becoming part of the Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care business.

The branches are accredited by the Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group to carry out NHS hearing assessments on its behalf, including hearing tests, fitting and supply of digital hearing aids, batteries and aftercare, all free of charge to the patient.

Ripley branch manager Emma Baldwin said: “We are delighted to be working with the local CCG to offer this free service on the high street alongside NHS eye care, all under one roof.”
