Torch in Ripley for 400 store tour

Staff at Sainsbury’s in Ripley got the chance to see the Paralympic Torch on Thursday as it completes a lap of honour around the country.

The torch is currently travelling around 400 Sainsbury’s stores for customers and staff to look at and have photos taken with - as the retailer was the official sponsor of the Games.It is one of the 620 torches used in the 24 hour Relay which took place from Stoke Mandeville in Aylesbury, the home of the Paralympic Movement, to the Olympic Park in Stratford, London ahead of the 2012 Games. Store manager Keith Morton said: “For our customers, it’s was a once in a lifetime chance for them to see the torch.”
