big-hearted Cubs and Beavers gave their own toys as Christmas gifts to underprivileged children at a special church service.
The 3rd Codnor Scouts and Cubs attended a children’s service St James’s Church, on Denby Lane, on Tuesday, December 6.
Each child donated a toy which they had wrapped up themselves and the toys were given to underprivileged children.
Curate Christopher Holder said: “It’s something that the Scouts do each year as part of their social awareness training.
“It’s a service that’s geared for children with Christmas carols and Bible readings.
“We talked about sharing and people who aren’t as fortunate as we are.”
The toys which were collected will be given to Home-Start, and there was also a collection for the Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre in Skegness - a charity which offers a seaside vacation to children who would not otherwise be able to go. Among the congregation were 3rd Codnor Beavers Kai Mellors and Connor Garner-Shaw, and 1st Loscoe Beavers Shauni Buxton and Liberty Stamp-Hains.
