ROCK band The Snatch grabbed victory at Monday’s finals of the Alfreton Party In The Parks Battle Of The Bands competition.
Organisers John Marsden and Liam Connell said people were queuing from 11.45am outside Alftreton Town Supporters’ Social Club and the venue was packed when the contenders took to the stage at 1pm.
The Snatch came top, polling 509 votes, while Full English came second with 382, followed by Sons Of El Roacho on 378 and Revealed Dark on 341 votes.
John said: “The winners concentrated on modern rock - they had a look at the audience and were able to do everything from rock ballads to contemporary. My personal favourites were Sons Of El Roacho – a very talented, three-piece psychobilly band with a slap bass.”
Sets from acoustic duos Fowney and the Boogeyman and Kate and Kelly Marsden rounded off the day’s entertainment. The event raised over £600 for this year’s Party in the Park - the eleventh - where all four bands will play on the main stage.
