CHILDREN made the most of their summer holidays by enjoying a fun face painting day at a Ripley charity shop.
The Lighthouse on Oxford Street hosted the event as part of its ‘summer madness’ series of activities to bring shoppers into the store.
Kids enjoyed having their face painted while parents took advantage of a number of discount offers available in the store.
The trade boost will help fund the shop’s parent charity, Valley Christians in Derbsyshire Schools (CIDS), which runs a number of outreach projects in the area.
Joan Lawrence, office manager for Valley CIDs, said: “Our children’s team were outside of the school term and it is just a way of providing a little boost for our shops.”
Valley CIDs was set up in 2000 and its team goes into schools in Derbyshire to give religious education lessons, assemblies and workshops.
It also runs the Blend Youth Project in Ripley and Heanor, holds four breakfast clubs for youngsters and holds after school activities in schools in Alfreton.
Since starting 11 years ago it now has 18 stores in Derbyshire.
