Stuart bows out after almost 50 years

Denby Pottery’s current longest serving employee Stuart Oldfield has retired after almost 50 years with the firm.

The 65-year-old started work at the pottery on 21 April 1965, having secured a job before leaving school, and has completed 49 years and 7months service.

On his last working day on Thursday, Stuart - who walks more than five miles each day in his job - enjoyed a farewell cuppa with managing director Garry Biggs.

His manager, Mick Fearn, said: “ Stuart is popular amongst his colleagues and has an exemplary work record .”
