THE number of soldiers marching through Eastwood next weekend has more than doubled.
Originally 80 soldiers from the Royal Engineers were marching through Eastwood on May 12, but the figure has now increased to 200.
They will now start the march at 10.05am, instead of 10.30am, from the church at Hilltop.
A road closure will be in place for the event which is set to bring hundreds of people out onto the streets to cheer them by.
The marching soldiers are exercising their right of freedom of entry to the borough, which was awarded to them in 2010.
Look out for pictures from the event in the Advertiser on May 18.
