A FORMER soldier from Matlock has been selected to meet the Queen this month.
Roger Price of Lums Hill Rise, is the vice chairman of the Royal Engineers Association branch in Chesterfield, and is on the national committee for the regiment’s charitable trust.
The 63-year-old former lance corporal, who has been involved with the association for more than a decade, will be heading for Windsor Castle to celebrate 100 years of the association.
He said: “It’s been up in the air for a while, but I got the invitation recently and it was nice surprise.”
And the day may not be his only brush with royalty this summer, after he was chosen to attend the garden party at Buckingham Palace next month.
