Weather forecasters are warning of snow throughout the day in the Ripley and Heanor area.

The Met Office yellow ‘be prepared’ alert is valid between noon today and 10am on Wednesday.

Recent flurries have been reported across the area over the past hour.

A Met Office spokesman said: “The public should be aware of the risk of some travel disruption and difficult driving conditions – they should take extra care.”

Road users are being warned of queuing traffic on A610 eastbound in Kimberley between Ikea Island and Nuthall Island.

Also heavy traffic is reported on the A38 in Little Eaton at Little Eaton Island in the roadworks area. Congestion is leading to the B6179 Derby Road junction.
