DISABLED children in Ilkeston are set to benefit from a sensory light and sound system at Victoria Park Leisure Centre.
Erewash Borough Council has received £35,000 from Aiming High for Disabled Children for the interactive, multi-sensory system at the centre’s teaching pool.
A council spokesman explained that the therapeutic music and vibrant sensory lighting effects are proven to be beneficial for people with learning disabilities.
And the new multi-sensory system can be used to enhance children’s learning in the teaching pool.
During the works the disabled swim sessions held on Monday and Tuesday afternoons will be suspended until Tuesday March 27 for the new equipment to be installed. The teaching pool will remain open during the evening.
