Scouts from the Ripley and Heanor district were challenged to spend a night out camping this January.

The 2nd Swanwick and 1st Ripley Scouts packs took part in the Chilly Challenge, which saw more than 69 scouts with 21 leaders get involved at Drum Hill Scout Camp, Little Eaton.

Other Derbyshire packs chose to do their challenge in the gardens of their Scout huts.

Ripley Scouts made a Swedish candle to keep themselves warm, while Swanwick Scouts played games in the trees on site.

Cub Scout leader at 1st Ripley Scouts, Michael Hawley, said: “Everyone had a fabulous time and there were smiles all round when they were presented with their Chilly Challenge badges.”
