CHECKOUT assistant Sally Malin wowed shoppers in Ripley on Saturday as she completed an in-store marathon.

The mother of five, 47, from Pentrich Road in Ripley, raised £3,000 for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance for completing 26 miles on a treadmill in four hours and 40 minutes at Sainsbury’s, Nottingham Road.

And the achievement was made even more remarkable as Sally has only one kidney, she only quit smoking a year ago and to top it off, she had not done any exercise in 15 years before training for the challenge earlier in the year.

Thrilled Sally said: “For the last mile everyone came to watch at the front of the store, it was an amazing feeling.”
