ROADWORKS: Sunday closures of A610 at Sawmills to begin this weekend

Motorists are being warned to expect delays during work to resurface a major Derbyshire road.

The A610 Ripley Road at Sawmills is to be closed between its junction with Bullbridge Hill and B6013 Chesterfield Road from 8am until 6pm on Sunday April 10, 17 and 24.

A Derbyshire County Council spokesperson said: “Delays are expected and residents are advised to allow extra time for their journey.

“Access will be maintained, whenever reasonably possible, on the affected length of road.

“The road will re-open as soon as the work is finished.”

Diversions will be in place, with light vehicles being directed along the following alternative route: B6013 Chesterfield Road, B5035 Holm Lane, Church Lane, Manor Road, Garner Lane, Roes Lane, Bowns Hill, Market Place, Sandy Lane, Main Road, A6 Matlock Road, A610 Riversdale and vice versa.

The diversion route for heavy goods vehicles will be: A610 Nottingham Road, B6441 Hartshay Hill, Cromford Road, Church Street, B6179 Nottingham Road, Grosvenor Road, Derby Road, A609 Rawson Green, Belper Road, Kilburn Lane, Openwoodgate, Kilbourne Road, Nottingham Road (Spencer Road), Lander Lane (High Street), Market Place, New Road, A6 Chapel Street, Bridge Street, Matlock Road, A610 Riversdale and vice versa.
