Road reopen after huge Heanor fire

A fire at a commercial garage in Heanor is being dealt with by emergency services but roads have now reopened.

Firefighters are currently dealing with a large fire on Holbrook Street where vehicles, buildings and canisters were alight.

The initial call to attend the fire was received at 11.10am today, Tuesday, July 17 and crews from Heanor, Belper, Ilkeston, Nottingham Road and Alfreton, are all in attendance, supported by a crew from Nottinghamshire’s Eastwood Fire Station. Ashfield’s water carrier and the command support unit from Ripley are also in attendance.

Speaking just after 12.30pm a spokesman for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Approximately 30 people have been evacuated from local businesses and properties in the area.”

All roads have now reopened including; Mansfield Road, Station Road, Holbrook Street, Howitt Street.
