A suspected cannabis grower was caught out when a fire started at a Ripley house at the weekend.

Police were called to the property in Hawthorn Avenue, Ripley, at 9.55pm on Saturday (March 14) when firefighters attending a blaze in the roof space found a number of suspected cannabis plants.

The fire spread to the roof of the neighbouring property.
