Ripley dance school brings home the gold

JL Dance and Performing Arts Academy in Ripley came first overall at the Mercia Dance Festival in Tamworth, which has been running for more than 40 years. This year, the group came home with 13 out of a possible 16 troupe trophies, numerous individual trophies, medals and other special awards. A mixture of male and female students ranging from age four up to early 20s performed over three weekends in competition with other reputable dance schools. See left for more.

The dancers performed in various styles including ballet, acrobatics, tap, street dance and more.

The principal, Joanne Howarth, said: “I am overjoyed with the school’s record breaking performing. I must credit the student’s hard work, dedication and good sportsmanship, along with their family support at the competitions.”
