Pupils from Heanor Gate handed over two boxes of tinned and packaged goods to Heanor Salcare’s foodbank scheme.
The Kirkley Drive students had been collecting for a fortnight for the bank, which helps feed Heanor families struggling to to feed themselves.
Manager of Salcare Sue Clarke gave a big thanks to the teens for the donation, adding that more are in need of the service now than ever.
She said: “Nationally the number of people accessing them has gone up astronomically.”
Those eligible for the food are referred to Salcare via agencies such as Social Services and Citizen’s advice. To donate, drop dried, tinned and packaged foods into Salcare on Ray Street.
