Pub landlord says thanks to heart charity

A Marehay pub is supporting the British Heart Foundation (BHF) during National Heart Month this February by getting involved with the Red for Heart campaign.

Phil Barnaville, landlord at The Kestrel Inn, is organising a number of fundraising events for the BHF this month to celebrate the third anniversary of his successful heart surgery and is hoping people will come along and show their support.

In January 2009 Phil had a mild heart attack. He was cared for at Royal Derby Hospital initially, followed by a quadruple heart bypass weeks later at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester. He is now fully recovered and has pledged his support to the BHF.

The fundraising kicks off on Saturday 11 February with a karaoke. Other events throughout the month include a murder mystery evening, live music and a raffle.
