Gulliver’s Kingdom in Matlock Bath is reopening its doors to the public this Saturday.

The park, one of four in the Gulliver’s Theme Park Resorts family, has been unable to open so far this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A number of additional safety measures have since been made to the park to adhere to Government guidelines and to keep guests safe.

These include temperature checks on arrival, mandatory advanced booking, contactless entry, social distancing measures, a food pre-ordering system and all guests over the age of three needing to wear face coverings on rides. The park is also operating on a limited capacity to meet social distancing requirements.

Julie Dalton, managing director of the family-run Gulliver’s Theme Park Resorts, said: “We are incredibly excited that the opening weekend for Gulliver’s Kingdom is finally upon us. The last few months have been extremely challenging so to be in the position where can safely welcome back our loyal customers is wonderful.

“Of course, the health and wellbeing of our visitors and our employees really is top priority and so we have staggered the opening of our four parks to ensure each one meets the high standards we have set ourselves as well as meeting the requirements outlined by Government. These include introducing a number of measures so that everyone feels comfortable and reassured whilst enjoying a fun and enjoyable day out.”

Aimed at children between the ages of two and 13-years-old, Gulliver’s Kingdom is a key tourist attraction in the Peak District and home to a host of rides and attractions, as well as accommodation options.

Julie added: “We’ve already seen some guests enjoy our T-Rex Treks and Explorers Retreat accommodation in July so the opening of the theme park means we are now fully up and running giving visitors to the area the chance to enjoy some Gulliver’s magic, nestled on the Matlock Bath hillside in the heart of the beautiful Peak District.”

The Gulliver’s story began back in 1978, when Ray and Hilary Phillips created a model village on the hillside of Matlock Bath for young children to enjoy and, in turn, unwittingly went on to create some of the UK’s most successful theme park resorts.

The company remains in the same family to this day with Julie Dalton, Ray and Hilary’s daughter, now managing director of Gulliver’s and her brother Nick, development director, who is also heavily involved in the day to day running of the business. The other parks are Gulliver’s World in Warrington, Gulliver’s Land in Milton Keynes and the brand new Gulliver’s Valley resort which has just opened in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

Tickets must be purchased in advance, walk-ins will not be granted entry to the park. For further information and to purchase advance tickets, visit: https://www.gulliverskingdomresort.co.uk
