Police adviceafter Heanor vehicle damage

Safer Neighbourhood officers in Heanor are urging local drivers to step up security following recent damage to vehicles.

The advice comes after several cars parked on Joan Avenue in Heanor had their wing mirrors damaged sometime between 8pm and 11pm on Saturday, September 26.

Members of the Heanor and Loscoe SNT are encouraging people to be vigilant and follow simple crime prevention advice.

This includes, closing wing mirrors by turning them towards the vehicle when you lock up at night and always using your garage if you have one.

Get an alarm fitted: Alarms can deter thieves not only from damaging or stealing your vehicle, but also from taking items from it.

Officers are also encouraging local residents to report suspicious behaviour to them by calling 101, or 999 if a crime is taking place.

You can also report crime anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
