Plans afoot for village eyesore

Amber Valley Borough Council is set to bring in contractors to repair a fire-gutted Riddings pub.

The roof of the disused Newlands Inn in the village was destroyed in August 2011 by a massive blaze.

Now the borough council has vowed to take steps to repair the eyesore premises. A report was due to go before councillors on Wednesday, September 25, saying that enough of the building remains for a restoration project and it is currently under discussions with the owner for a residential scheme involving ‘the repair of this building and new buildings on the former car park’. No formal plans have been submitted.
