PHOTO SLIDESHOW Dispatch readers capture drama of Hucknall town centre siege

Dispatch readers have been sending us their images as they watched yesterday’s armed siege drama unfold in Hucknall town centre.

Armed police officers cordoned off part of the town centre following reports of a man acting suspiciously at the Spot On Snooner Club on Vine Terrace on Thursday afternoon.

Trained negotiators worked throughout the afternoon and night and guided two hostages to safety.

The siege was eventually brought to an end at 1.40am on Friday morning after armed officers entered the snooker hall where the man, believed to be armed, had been since around 2pm Friday.

The 20-year-old suspect was arrested and detained on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence. He has been taken into police custody for questioning.
