Community comes out in force for Ambergate carnival's day of delights

Families flocked to Ambergate Carnival on Saturday, enjoying a feast of entertainment and community spirit.

The carnival has been a fixture of village life for decades and shows no signs of slowing down.
Organising committee secretary Becky Morley said: “We were really pleased with how well it went. It was perfect weather, a great turnout, and a lovely atmosphere.
“So many people told us how much they love coming each year and lots of other good feedback. It’s the only chance the whole community has to come together.”
The day began with the traditional fancy-dress float parade, featuring entries from local families, the village playgroup and school.
The colourful procession was led by a marching band to the Hurt Arms where a packed line-up of performances, fun and games lay in wait.
Becky said: “My favourite part was the dancing diggers from JC Balls. They were brilliant.
“It was so nice to see so many people stay for the after-party too, and all the children playing together outside late into the evening. It doesn’t happen often enough.”
She added: “Thank you to everyone involved, especially all the prize donors and sponsors and the community who came out to support it. We couldn’t do it without them.”
