Paralympic hero inspires school pupils

Selston High School welcomed Paralympian and TV presenter Ade Adepitan as their guest of honour at the annual achievement evening .

Sixty-five students received awards for attainment and effort in all curricular subjects. There was also special awards, including the ‘contribution to Selston High School’ award which went to Kenneth Wilkinson who retired after 40 years’ service at Selston.

Ade gave inspirational insight into his trials and tribulations in 
becoming a British wheelchair basketball player.

The message from Ade was that if you have a goal never give up trying and through perseverance, determination and commitment all goals can be reached.

Students and staff commented on his positivity in the face of adversity and his will to overcome barriers.
