Pair who sexually abused boy at Derbyshire house jailed

A man and woman who sexually abused a young boy at a Derbyshire house in the 1990s have been jailed.

John McAuley, 56, has been jailed for 12 years after being found guilty of raping the boy in the early 1990s and one month for failing to surrender to custody.

Sharon Brooks, 58, was sentenced to four years in prison for indecently assaulting the same boy in the early 90s.

Both were placed on the sexual offenders register for life.

The case against the pair, who were friends at the time of the abuse, began in 2013 when the victim contacted police to report what had happened.

He said Brooks, of Glendon Street, Stanley Common, and McAuley, of Albany Avenue, Harrogate, had abused him at a house in Ilkeston.

They were sentenced at Derby Crown Court on Thursday, July 14.
