TOP in-line skaters, skateboarders and BMX riders descended on the East Midlands Designer Outlet, South Normanton as part of the centre’s month-long urban life and style celebration.
In the second in a series of shows and workshops held at the centre throughout August, daredevils Team Extreme performed stunts, tricks and manoeuvres in front of shoppers all afternoon. In between the adrenalin-fuelled fun, Team Extreme hosted a series of workshops, giving shoppers a chance to try out some of the tricks. Professional in-line skater and member of Team Extreme, Jenna Downng, said: “School summer holidays are always a fantastic time of year to perform for families as it’s a great opportunity to encourage young people to get involved.”
Tomorrow the centre will host a skateboarding school, which anyone is welcome to attend.
Team Extreme’s performance followed a freerunning fashion show last week by 3RUN, who modelled Levi’s in a high-energy, thrill-seeking aerial performance. In the final of the three Urban Life and Style fashion shows, Thursday 25th August sees a thrilling Power Bocker display, as seen in the closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, where performers jump and run with spring loaded stilts.
Other thrill-seeking activities and experiences being held at McArthurGlen’s East Midlands throughout August, to encourage shoppers to keep active include:
· Saturday 20th August: Compete against fellow shoppers with Game Console trials
· Monday 22nd August: Trial professional stunt bikes with KMX Biking
24th August: Segway course with Adrenalin Jungle
· Friday 26th August: Learn from the pro’s with a professional Skateboarding School
