Sea, sand and land have been the inspiration for a colourful new outdoor play area.
The youngsters in the reception class at Carsington and Hopton Primary School have been able to make more of the outdoors thanks to the creation of their outside classroom.
Head teacher Adam Hounslow-Eyre said: “Their curriculum is very play based and there’s a requirement for there to be areas of learning both inside and outside.
“The play area is a development of our outside space.”
He said it included car and shop role play areas, as well as a play house and chalk boards.
The school also has plans to develop the playground to provide extra stimulation for the children aged between seven and 11 years old.
The Parent Teacher Association will be raising money towards this, however the school has also received a £395 cheque from Waitrose, in Ashbourne, following a collection in store.
