Open day for help

OLDER folk were invited to an open day at Peveril Court, Ripley, last Friday, to find out more about the help available to them.

Housing association Futures Homescape held open days at community centres in Loscoe, Ripley, Belper and Alfreton to give crime prevention advice and health service demonstrations like an exercise class designed to reduce falls.

The open days were part of the National Housing Federation campaign to raise awareness of the services in the Midlands that help over 228,000 vulnerable people. A Futures Homescape spokesman said: “Research shows that every pound spent on these support services saves £2.12 on other public services.”
