A new Indian restaurant is set to open in Ripley next week.
Serving Bangladeshi food, the Undal Restaurant and Takeaway on Wellington Street opens its doors with a special event on Tuesday, November 26.
Co-owner Shahadur Rohman, 31, said: “We decided on Ripley because it is a nice area. The premises were an empty shell that needed a lot of work. There were no kitchens at all and we put in partitions.”
Work to revamp the former furniture firm took three and a half months.
Mr Rohman’s family are from Walsall, and the town’s mayor is coming up for the event, which will also be attended by Ripley Mayor Alwyn Bridge.
The family-owned and operated business offers a 60-cover restaurant and provides a free fast home delivery service.
The unlicensed restaurant is open from 5.30pm to 11pm seven days a week, with Sunday lunches from 12pm onwards. Diners are free to bring their own alcoholic drinks.
