A multimillion pound project to build 60 affordable homes in Ripley is now firmly underway, with the first houses expected to be available later this year.
Dales Housing’s first affordable housing development in Ripley will see homes built on the former Evans Concrete site, off Peasehill Road, over the next 12 months.
The £6.375million scheme – which is a partnership between Dales Housing, Amber Valley Borough Council and Strata Homes – includes 48 houses for affordable rent and 12 for shared ownership.
Chris Welch, Director of Assets and Development at Dales Housing’s parent company Acclaim Housing Group, said he was excited about the project.
He said: “We are excited about expanding our housing offer into the Amber Valley District for the first time.
“The scheme’s mix of modern and stylish homes for rent and shared ownership will help meet the rising demand for affordable housing in the area.
“This will enable those looking to get a first step on the property ladder the opportunity to do so.”
Coun David Taylor, Amber Valley Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing and Public Health, said: “We are very pleased to be working with Dales Housing on this exciting project and very much welcome their investment in affordable housing in the Borough.”
Dales Housing is investing £5m in the Greenaway Avenue development, along with a £1m grant from the Homes and Communities Agency and £375,000 from Amber Valley Borough Council.
Dales Housing will be holding two events in Ripley to showcase the new homes available .
On Wednesday, October 21, between 6pm to 8pm at the Town Hall in the Market Place and on Tuesday, October 27, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm at the Ripley Leisure Centre, on Derby Road.
Anyone interested in applying for a rented home needs to be eligible to go on the Derbyshire Home Options register.
