Heanor town centre is set for a boost with the creation of 25 new jobs as retailer Boyes open their new department store on Market Street just in time for Christmas.
The store, in the former premises of supermarket Somerfield is set to be opened Friday morning at 8.30am by Heanor mayor Heather Longdon and Heanor councillor and leader of Amber Valley Borough Council Paul Jones.
The stores stocks a large range of products including clothing, toys, stationery, babywear, toiletries, housewares, DIY, footwear, soft furnishings, wool, confectionery and pet products.
Andrew Boyes, managing director of the UK-wide chain of department stores, said: “We’re really looking forward to opening our Heanor store, there’s certainly a lot of potential in the town
“We feel that we can offer something different to Heanor and I’m sure that people will enjoy what we have to offer.
“We couldn’t be opening at a better time with Christmas just around the corner, admittedly it’s a bit hectic, but it’s a sensible time to open.”
Robert van der Heijden, marketing and new store development director for Boyes heaped praise on Amber Valley Borough Council for their help they have given Boyes in getting their new shop ready in time for Friday.
“The council have been absolutely fantastic. I really cannot praise them enough for all the help they’ve given us in preparation for the opening.
“All council’s should give the amazing level of support that Amber Valley Borough Council have given us.”
