New apprentices

New apprentices have started work at Derbyshire County Council as part of the authority’s pledge to boost job opportunities for local young people.

A further 35 apprentices have taken up positions across the council – bringing the number of new recruits to 165 under the authority’s commitment to create 500 posts by 2016.

Councillor Brian Ridgway, Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Council Services said: “I am delighted to welcome the latest apprentices to the county council and we wish them all the best in their future with us. These are tough economic times where young people are finding it difficult to get a foot on the career ladder. We’re committed to investing in the people of Derbyshire by supporting them into employment and our apprenticeship positions are a great way to learn a range of skills right across the council.”
