Motorcyclist dies after crash in Shirland


A motorcyclist has died after they were involved in a road crash.

Police revealed how the rider was travelling along the A61 Chesterfield Road, at Shirland, about 6.30pm, on Tuesday, January 14, when they lost control and collided with a blue car coming in the opposite direction.

A police spokesman said: “The rider came off and the bike travelled a long distance along the road before coming to rest.

“The rider received significant injuries due to the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Derbyshire Constabulary is appealing for witnesses to call the police’s collision investigation team on 101.
