More snow and sleet on the way to our towns

SNOW could hit parts of Ripley and Heanor today as forecaters predicts a repeat of Saturday’s downfall.

MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association has said there will be a problem with freezing rain in Scotland and northern England.

But as the weather front moves south and east it will turn into sleet and snow, hitting the Midlands by the middle of the afternoon.

Nick Prebble of Meteogroup said: “From midday onwards, there will be snow falling, with between 4cm and 8cm possible.

“The areas worst affected are likely to be East Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and the East Midlands.

“There may well be snow flurries in London by the evening.

“It looks like it is going to settle in quite a wide area.”
