A fundraising evening of film and live music focused on the 1984 and 85 miners’ strike will feature at Chesterfield’s Pomegranate Theatre.
Organised by some of the team who led Chesterfield’s 2014 Born in ‘84 celebration and supported by Chesterfield TUC, the event, which runs from 7pm, on Tuesday, February 24. will show the hard hitting Still the Enemy Within.
The film offers a unique insight into one of UK history’s most dramatic events using raw first hand footage from people who lived through Britain’s longest strike.
Local and regional musicians John Young and Toein’ in the Dark will also perform original and traditional songs from the strike and inspired by the mining industry. Funds raised will go to the Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign, which is calling for an inquiry after clashes at the Orgreave Coking Plant in 1984.
