Memories of Oklahoma

Having just seen the Memory Lane Special in the paper I can tell you that the company performing Oklahoma in April, 1989, is Heanor Operatic Society.

On the front row are Jean Eyre, Wendie Madeley, Joyce Longdon, Diana Wood.

Back row are Sue Plackett, Bernard Antcliffe, Margaret Collier, Jack Hart, (I can’t remember who the next two people are) then Jackie Hutsby.

I have many wonderful memories of our productions over the years. Oklahoma in particular had a few high spots – noticeably guns refusing to fire when they should have done, scenery doors refusing to open, and the ‘surrey with the fringe on top’ being too big to go on stage.

Both Diana Wood and Jackie Hutsby who appear in the picture are founder members of the society which started in 1972, and Diana has appeared in all our productions since we began performing in 1981.

I really enjoy Memory Lane, please keep the pictures coming.
