Man, 63, assaulted down alleyway in Derbyshire town

A 63-year-old man mugged in an Alleyway in Ilkeston was assaulted by a youth demanding money and cigarettes.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the assault which occurred in an alleyway off Albany Street, Ilkeston on Friday, May 6.

Officers said of the attack at around 9.45 pm that evening: "The 63-year-old victim was walking through an alleyway off Albany Street when he was approached by a youth who asked him for money and cigarettes.

"When he refused to hand anything over, the offender assaulted him causing minor injury."
