Loscoe man injured in fire

A MAN in his 60s had to be taken to hospital with severe burns after falling asleep with a lit cigarette.

Fire crews from Ripley and Heanor were called to the Gardens, Loscoe, at 10pm, on Thursday, after the burning cigarette set fire to a chair.

The man was woken by the smoke alarm and managed to pat out the flames. He was in a stable condition this week.
