Life saving machine is finally unveiled at summer fair

A community was celebrating as a life saving defibrillator machine was unveiled as part of the festivities at South Wingfield Social Club’s summer fair over the weekend.

The heart start machine was funded by several charitable groups and individuals from across the region.

The British Heart Foundation (BHF), which was on hand to help unveil the life saving apparatus on the big day helped play a huge part in the unveiling of the defibrillator.

The fundraising team, led by Mike Churndale, 
Chairman of the Alfreton, Ripley & District Fundraising Branch, is also celebrating being commended for its excellent work in the community by being 
honoured with a fundraising 
volunteer of the year award (Full story opposite).

The summer fair, hosted by South Wingfield Social Club, on High Road, not only saw the BHF group get involved but saw substantial cheques presented from local housing provider Futures Homescape and Ripley and Amber Valley mayor’s Roland Emmas-Williams and Cllr John Walker respectively on behalf of Derbyshire County Council.
