A PUPIL from St John’s Primary School in Ripley picks up her prize for a winning Christmas card design.
The competition was run by nearby companies Zycomm, from Nottingham Road, Ripley, which specialises in distributing walkie-talkies to businesses and wireless broadband company W3Z, which operates from the same building.
Sales executive at Zycomm Jim Smith said staff were struggling to come up with a design for a corporate Christmas card to be sent to clients.
“We were sat in our boardroom scratching our heads,” Jim said, “When it occurred to us that just round the corner there were 300 talented artists that could help us.”
The company challenged the school to create a festive card which somehow involved walkie-talkies.
The winning design came from eight-year-old Jessica Peach, shown here, who cleverly pictured red breasted robins using them.
She won a £20 Argos voucher and five runners up claimed £10 vouchers.
Mr Smith said the quality of the designs were very good, adding that Jessica’s winning card was sent to nearly 500 clients.
