Mindless vandals smashed a shopper’s car with a broken bollard in Heanor - having first fled the scene of a collision with another car.

Police are appealing for information after three people driving in a white Transit van drove into a car on Ray Street just before 8.30pm on Tuesday, October 15.

The van did not stop and was later left on Midland Road.

Two men and a woman got out of the vehicle and reportedly headed towards the Tesco superstore.

Police believe the two men in the group then approached a white Peugeot 208 in the car park of the High Street store as the driver attempted to leave.

One of the men stood in front of the car to prevent the driver from pulling out of the car park.

The driver reversed away from the men and went into the store to report what was happening.

The two men are then alleged to have damaged his car including smashing the windscreen with a broken bollard.

Shortly after 9pm the two men and woman entered the Market Hotel, Heanor and allegedly threatened customers.

The group then left the pub and boarded a bus heading in the direction of Eastwood.

Officers would like to speak to anyone with any information about this series of incidents. Witnesses are asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
