At the Inner Wheel Club of Heanor president June Gaunt and 23 members attended the June meeting at the United Reformed Church, Marlpool.

In her opening remarks, the president welcomed the members and thanked those who had attended and helped at the 65th Charter Party held at Morley Hayes. She also thanked members who had attended and helped to make the Simply Strings Concert, held at the Wilmot Street Centre in Heanor such a success, which raised £1,000 for the Impact Foundation.

A thank you card had been received from District Chairman Elaine Harrison for making her and husband Brian so welcome at our 65th Charter Party. Sue Mukherjee also sent a thank you card for the planter received from the club on the occasion of her ruby wedding anniversary. Our member, district overseas service chairman Diana Sardesai, sent a letter expressing her thanks for the £1,000 raised at the Simply Strings Concert in aid of the Impact Foundation – this will enable 33 children to receive a cleft pallet operation.

Thank you cards had also been received from Hilda Buxton for the golden rose bush received from the club on for her golden wedding anniversary and also from Laura Hall for the plants received for her 65th wedding anniversary. Glynis Smith also sent a thank you card for the flowers received from the club. Loscoe CofE School sent a letter of thank you for the donation of £600, which had been used to purchase new equipment and books for the pupils and enclosed photographs of the children utilising these items.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read by Pauline Poynter, followed by correspondence by Ann Hodgkinson. Anndrea Elder presented the treasurer’s report. Overseas service organiser Carolynne Craven reported that 11 Roy Bags, nine Joy Bags, five Toy Bags and 17 Baby Bundles together with numerous items from the Bridge Centre, Langley Mill and Morley Church had been sent overseas. Club correspondent Carol Hartshorn said reports had appeared in the Ripley and Heanor News.
