Hundreds of Alfreton residents are hoping for sunshine this weekend as the town’s annual Party in the Park kicks off.
The event will see a procession of floats make their way through the town from 11am.
There will be plenty for the kids this year with the popular Pedro’s Travelling Show, Pinxton Puppets, bouncy castles and face painting.
And who needs the seaside when you can take donkey rides around the park?
The community party, at Alfreton Park, Wingfield Road, will also see the return of a boxing marquee, with over 60 boxers from around the Midlands taking part throughout the day.
There will be the usual assortment of trade and craft stalls, together with stalls from local community groups and charities.
New to the party on Sunday, September 7, will be a horticultural show, with categories of fruit, vegetables and flowers.
Organiser Liam Connell encouraged people to head down to the event, now in its 12th year.
He said: “The party only started as a one-off for the Queen’s Jubliee back in 2002, and due to popular demand it’s still going strong. There will be plenty of entertainment and activites for all ages so head down and have a fun day out.”
