A report from the Taxpayers’ Alliance detailed the bumper pay deals for senior staff at local authorities with many earning more than Prime Minister Theresa May's combined salary entitlement of £153,907. Here are the top 10 highest earners for the borough, district and county councils in Derbyshire for 2017-18.

The county council paid former chief executive Mr Stephenson - who left his role in 2017 after the authority agreed to cut its management team - a salary of 50,468 pounds and 124,694 pounds in compensation in 2017/18.
The chief executive was paid a salary of 112,449 pounds, another payment of 1,239 pounds and a pension payment of 29,618 pounds in 2017/18.
Mr Swaine was paid a salary of 114,972 pounds and a pension of 15,881 pounds in his role as joint chief executive of Bolsover District Council & North East Derbyshire District Council in 2017/18.
As strategic director of adult care, a role from which she retired in July 2018, Joy Hollister was paid a salary of 121,285 pounds and another payment of 5,000 pounds in 2017/18.
An undisclosed officer at South Derbyshire District Council was paid a salary of 122,500 pounds in 2017/18.
The borough council paid its chief executive Mr Bowen a salary of 106,726 pounds, paid 15,137 pounds towards his pension and 457 pounds in expenses during 2017/18.
As Strategic Director of Economy Transport & Environment Mr Ashworth was paid a salary of 120,810 pounds and was given another payment of 1,317 pounds during 2017/18.
Mr Sankey was paid 118,236 pounds as Director of Resources and Deputy Chief Executive of Erewash Borough Council in 2017/18 - including a salary of 92,605 pounds, a pension payment of 24,392 pounds and another payment of 1,239 pounds.
The district council paid Dorcas Bunton 117,428 pounds as chief executive of the council in 2017/18 including a salary of 102,279 pounds, another payment of 1,239 pounds and a pension payment of 13,910 pounds. She retired in 2018.
As Director of Finance & ICT Mr Handford was paid a salary of 95,082 pounds and pension payments of 19,016 pounds in 2017/18.
